Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2009 Syrah has an edgy, dynamic tasting profile with a vibrant nose of red berry compote, black pepper and spice aromas readily apparent. The palate follows suit adding a melange of cedar, red currants and orange rind to the mix. This is a medium bodied Syrah with quite a sensual mouthfeel - there's a silkiness and freshness that invigorates the mouth through its persistent finish.

Critical Acclaim

"Full ruby. Spice- and floral-accented aromas of dark berries and cherry, with a smoky topnote. Juicy and precise, offering bright black and blue fruit flavors sharpened by a peppery quality. Flavorful but lithe, with very good finishing bite and length."
