Winemaker's Notes

A Bordeaux blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 2% Petite Sirah.

Our 2005 Sterling Vineyards SVR Reserve celebrates the synergy between Bordeaux-style grape varietals with an artistic blend focused on finesse. Winemaker Mike Westrick describes this wine as elegant, graceful and beautifully balanced, with seductive layers of complexity. The wine?s inviting aromas and opulent flavors fill your senses with ripe blackberries and black cherries. Nuances of mocha, cedar, toasty oak and violet spice the rich fruit expression then linger on the persistent finish, inviting you to take another sip. The wine is undeniably intense, with good weight on the palate. Fine-grain tannins softly structure the mouthfilling flavors.

I found this wine at a small beer and wine shop, not too far from home. I decided to buy 6 bottles, and boy am I glad I did. This wine is great!! I know that the 2006 has great reviews but, I don't understand how this fell short. The nose tells you right off the bat what you are in for. The tannins are bold but, still smooth. Flavors of pepper, cedar, plum, blackberry, and tobacco. The finish is long, and amazing! Try this wine!!

He planted grapes others did not, bottled varietals others did not, and built a dramatic winery with an aerial tramway. His...
