Ruby red. Intense aromas of cherry and spices. It is full, harmonious and elegant. A true expression of the territory it comes from. It pairs perfectly well with grilled meat and medium-aged cheeses. It can also be served lightly chilled (53-56F) with fish soup or rich seafood dishes.
"Bright dark red. Perfumed nose of fresh strawberry, delicate herbs and ink. Enters the mouth bright and fresh, with moderately intense red berry, flint and herbal flavors similar to the aromas; lively acids give the wine a taut, high-acid mouthfeel. Finishes clean and long, with mounting, chewy but fine tannins and a lingering hint of strawberry-rhubarb pie. A lovely everyday midweight that provides an excellent and different alternative to Chianti or Valpolicella; this will pick up flesh and volume with food."

"Statti's 2009 Gaglioppo is a fragrant, mid-weight offering with silky red fruit and lovely overall balance. The 2009 doesn't appear to be quite as generous as some prior vintages, but it is delicious all the same."
