winemaker's notes:
There's nothing petite about this wine! Inky dark and delicious, this Petite Sirah from one of Napa Valley's most famous wineries combines ageability and value.
Howevever, Petite Syrah is a more delicate wine than its color or flavor intensity would imply," says winemaker Robert Brittan. From the outset, the grapes that become a part of this wine are handled with extreme care - handpicked, transported the short distance to the winery in small bins, and fermented in small batches at moderately warm temperatures. "You want to extract enough tannin to give the wine structure, but you don't want to overdo it; if you don't remove the skins at just the right time, you can easily create a monster."
The final wine, with 79% Petite Syrah, 15% Syrah, 3% Carignane, 2% Viognier and 1% Grenache, gives off big aromas of blackberry, mocha, forest floor and truffles. These aromatics are echoed in the mouth and woven with flavors of blackberry syrup, orange marmalade and cola. A thick, creamy mouthfeel finishes long with a sensation of bitter chocolate.

MMMMMM- Stag's Leap Petite Sirah has converted me from a Cab junkie to the mixes of the two worlds. It's a perfect wine to enjoy with wheat baguettes and soft cheeses. I always get that warm - happy feeling with Stag's Leap. Love the peppery thrust in the middle of each sip. Great price for a fabulous wine!

This was a very nice surprise for a bottle under $30.00. This wine drinks better than the last 4 bottles I have had over $50.00. It is an easy to drink, beautiful red that to me, has all the complexity of a big Cabernet without the black eye. It was a perfect choice with pasta and red sauce with crusty bread and roasted garlic. Just Yummy!

One of the best Petite Sirah available today. This is a complex wine that is immediately interesting. The rich deep violet color is enhanced by a complex berry and oak bouquet. From first taste, the Stags Leap Petite Sirah grabs your taste and holds onto it with layer after layer of exciting berry and cedar/oak flavors. The finish is among the most complex I've ever seen in a Petite Sirah and holds your attention and imagination long after you've finshed the glass!
Bravo to Stags Leap for this acheivement!
