The 2008 CASK 23 combines the signature perfume notes of FAY vineyard with the structure and hints of minerality of S.L.V. The nose begins with enticing aromas of violets, dark berries, fresh grated nutmeg and mocha mint that lead to a luscious palate. Vibrant blackberry and black cherry fl avors mingle with hints of cola, espresso and dark chocolate. Bright and lively, this Cabernet has great fruit density and a silky texture.
"This stunning wine heralds the re-emergence of SLWC at the top of the Napa Valley hierarchy; elegant, powerful and dense with rich texture and spice it, it displays plum, cherry and blackberry fruit; long and lingering."
"A blend of the top estate fruit from the eastern hillside and lower alluvial soils of Fay and S.L.V. in Stag's Leap, Cask 23 is a robust Cabernet in 2008. It has the creamy richness of Stag's Leap tannins, matched by fruit that's as dark as pomegranate juice. The vintage lends a ferrous aspect to the structure, almost sanguine, allowing the wine to feel firm and open at once. It's clean and balanced for long aging, enjoyable along the way with a thick-cut steak."

The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...Read More About Napa Valley
