St. Supery Sauvignon Blanc 1999
Sauvignon Blanc
from Napa Valley, California
winemaker's notes:
Aromas jump from the glass with abundant fresh green lime and grapefruit, combined with subtle notes of melon and orange rind. The flavors are full, round and vibrant, textured with the same green lime and grapefruit, and followed by refreshing tones of citrus and crisp acidity.

this is exactly what Sauvignon Blanc should taste like, a breath of fresh air.
I have had the '98 and the '99, and both have been equally satisfying, a nice bouquet of green grass, lemons, pineapple and grapefruit followed by a palate that has a pleasurable degree of acidity and is compliment to the lovely bouquet.
For some reason California winemakers have found it inviting to add oak to their Sauvignon Blanc. Thank Buddha that St. Supery has not given in to this temptation.
Must we oak everything?
