St. Supery Cabernet Sauvignon 2001
Cabernet Sauvignon
from Napa Valley, California
winemaker's notes:
Rich hues of black cherry and new brick gleam through the glass. Aromatics are full with ripe blackberry and briar, enhanced by expressions of licorice and coffee bean. Lively flavors of currant and blackberries abound with barrel enhanced cassis and toasty charred oak. Wisps of vanilla from oak aging and a firm tannin structure combine for an elegant and refined finish.

What a terrific wine. Better than some of the high dollar wines I have had. Hints of cherry and oak with very smooth finish. I highly recommend this wine!

As with EVERY St. Supery wine I have had, EXCELLENCE exudes from it. Smooth, yet somewhat feisty, smacks you in the face with Cassis, Black Cherry, Blackberry & toasty oak. A Wonderful "Meat" wine, yet drinks yummy all by itself!

I tried this wine at the Capital Grille, when one of my favorites - Sequoia Grove Cab 2001 (I always stay under $100 at a restaurant) was not available. The St Supery was SUPERIOR to nearly all cabs and other reds I have had in the past year. It was hearty enough to stand up to the rich heavy food at the Capital Grille, but fruity and complex - enjoyable on its own as well. A+
