There is no law that says how old a vine has to be to be called old vine but these really are old, over fifty years old in fact. I love this wine because it is a real Zinfandel but the tannins and pepperyness are not so over powering that you can't enjoy it without a meal. Yes this wine is awesome with BBQ but I like to just have a glass when I get home from work. Give it a try, you won't be sorry.
