St. Francis Old Vines Zinfandel 1999
Zinfandel
from Sonoma County, California
winemaker's notes:
St. Francis released its first "Old Vines" Zinfandel in 1989. The grapes were hand-harvested from a 75 year old vineyard in Sonoma County. Since that first release, St. Francis has added numerous small old vine vineyards to our Zinfandel family. To meet our "old vines" criteria the vineyards must be 50 years and older, many are 80 to 100 years of age.
The 1999 "Old Vines" Zinfandel is again a big bold flavored Zin that you would expect from these ancient vines. Rich in character and texture, layers of complex flavors unfolding on the palate makes this wonderfully jammy Zin a favorite with St. Francis Zinophiles.

The 1997 vintage of this wine won a Zinfandel blind taste testing that I held two years ago, and I've been a huge fan ever since. St. Francis "Old Vines" Zinfandel is conistently outstanding. If you want a big, flavorful Zinfandel, look no further than St. Francis "Old Vines" Zinfandel.
