Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

A blend of the 2004 and 2005 vintages and a beautiful clear garnet color, this Port embodies the character for which Pinot Noir is known and loved. A slightly smoky aroma is followed by more intense dried strawberry and peach scents. A pleasing, velvety smooth mouth-feel is rich yet lively. Combined flavors of strawberry and cherry are followed by licorice, spice and honey on the finish. Try this port with fruit crisps, mango sorbet, cheeses, or chocolate-covered dried fruit.

The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...
