Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

The Spy Valley Riesling 2011 is pale gold in color. On the nose, ginger, lime and floral notes with a hint of flint. The palate is full and rich with ripe citrus and wet-stone flavor spectrum, and the finish is persistent and dry.

Critical Acclaim

"A terrific, juicy mix of guava, nectarine and tangerine flavors that are sleek and crisp, with plenty of aromatic highlights of Key lime pie, ginger and honeysuckle. Clean, refreshing finish. Drink now."

Not great on its own. Needs the perfect food pairing, but don't know what that is and probably won't try again to find out.
