The wine is made In the heart of the sun-drenched seacoast town of Bandol, 3 km from the sea. It is particularity appreciated by Sommeliers and boasting pride of place on some of the most prestigious southern tables like Monaco's Louis XV.

Black cherry and blackberry flavors - full and ripe. Long, satisfying finish. Made with Grenache 40%, Syrah 40%, Carignan 15%, Mourvedre 5%. Vinified in rotary casks and aged in oak barrels for 9 months.

I bought this thinking at 9 bucks it would be a crap shoot. Would it be a $25 bottle? Well, no. The wine is past it's prime and one dimensional. With an hour of aeration it hints of it's earlier beauty but just doesn't make it. Lots of sediment in the bottle suggests it once was more aggressive and austere. You can't win them all. I bought 2 bottles.

Easily the best wine I've had for this price--would have guessed it was worth $25+. Everything is in agreement--now has major sediment making me think that maybe during the early years it wasn't nearly this balanced.

No idea why this is so cheap: probably a perception that it is getting over the hill. Anyhow - this wine is by far the best value on wine.com. Outstanding stuff and easily worth twice the bottle price (if not quite the supposed original)
