Sokol Blosser Ice Wine Riesling (half-bottle)

Combining the delicate pear, apple, mineral and floral aromas of a Mosel with the rich peach and apricot flavors typical of a Rhinegau, this wine captures the essence of the distinctive Rieslings from the cold growing regions of Germany. Luscious and sweet, yet balanced by crisp acidity, it is clean and refreshing.

This special ultra-rich wine is produced from White Riesling grapes grown in our Estate vineyards. Produced in the style of the classic ice wines of Germany, whole clusters of grapes are frozen immediately after harvesting and then pressed while still solid. The water in the grapes remains behind as ice and only the sweetest juice, which does not freeze, drips out and is collected. This juice is over twice as sweet as the juice from unfrozen grapes, and the yield is less than half. The pressing is followed by a long, slow fermentation lasting over seven months. This painstaking process yields an incredibly intense, sweet and concentrated wine -- a pure expression of the essence of White Riesling.
