Alcohol By Volume: 14.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Callabriga Alentejo 2008 has an intense red-purple hue. Its aroma is very intense, dominated by ripe black fruit, with notes of oak, caramel, dry fruit and aromatic herbs. In the mouth it shows soft tannins, good volume and a finish with hints of aromatic herbs.

Critical Acclaim

"This powerful red delivers ripe, balanced flavors of dark plum, mocha, mincemeat and dark chocolate. The good structure is supported by plenty of tannins. Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro Preto and Alicante Bouschet. Best from 2012 through 2015. 2,900 cases made."
