With inky purple color, this wine reveals scents of wild strawberry, mocha, and caramel with touches of sage and rosemary. The flavors burst through with intense blueberry and strawberry jam notes wrapped around rich French oak and finishing with touches of milk chocolate, sweetened cranberries, and savory herbs.

This wine would be great with a number of intensely spiced dishes such as Korean BBQ, Teriyaki Beef, or your favorite spicy BBQ sauce on grilled chicken. Moussaka, or grilled elk loin would also work well for those a bit more daring. Our Syrah can even stand up to a dessert of wild berries over a dark chocolate mousse.

Much improved from 2006, the Smoking Loon Syrah 2007 is easy to drink with a medium body. A spicy aroma with hints of plum is followed by robust and fruity flavors of raspberry, currants, and plum, with a bit of red peppers, herbs, and oak. Great for pairing with dishes with savory sauces and gravy, as the strong flavor and hints of spice can punch through without overpowering the palate.

This is a great wine. Spicy, very enjoyable. I wish I could give it four and a half! (I have also made wonderful vinegar from this wine, btw.) I'm not sure if it's totally to style, but I really could not possibly, without fear of hyperbole, care less. Instead: Yum!
