Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Pale yellow color. Lemon and gooseberry fruit with great acidity and a refreshingly slight bitterness on the long finish. Pairs well with chilled shellfish, variety of tapas, warm creams and soups, salads, grilled fish, or a wide variety of cheeses including brie and goat cheese.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2010 Con Class Verdejo (100%) was made from 80-120-year-old organically farmed vines planted on pure chalk. Jasmine, mineral, stone fruit, and tropical notes inform the nose of this spicy, intensely flavored, nicely proportioned offering. This lengthy effort will provide pleasure for another 2-3 years. Verdejo does not get much better than this."
