Alcohol By Volume: 13.5%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This brilliantly clear, light straw-colored wine smells of pineapple, passion fruit, guava and grapefruit, with a hint of minerality. The palate offers generous nectarine and grapefruit with some flinty notes and a clean, refreshing finish. Simi Sauvignon Blanc pairs wonderfully with gazpacho, raw oysters, and a beet, orange and goat cheese salad.

An excellent summer wine. Clean, subtle, smooth with all the fruity flavors.

I have tried many Sauvignon Blanc wines at varied prices and this one does not sacrifice taste for price.

Fruity but not sweet. Very clean, crisp and light almost too light. Overall a great wine and worth the price every time. Great for a sunday afternoon sitting by the bay.

I have had a very good relationship with Simi Wines. This SB is excellent and I have enjoyed the two bottles I have consumed. When considering the price I would give it 5 stars.

Somewhat one dimensional, but solid and balanced.

This was a perfectly drinkable, light straw-colored SB, but was short on lasting flavor. Hints of pleasant pear and orange were present, but all too fleeting. Finally, the palate is left with a drab, almost oily aftertaste that begs to be quelled with another fresh taste of the wine. You'll therefore be looped in no time, but alas, with only the vaguest recollection of what was actually drunk.

Just 'okay' in my opinion. Certainly nothing offensive, but I like my sauvingnon blancs a little crisper with more citrus. This one is smooth, yet nothing to write home about, in my opinion. For $9.99 shipped, though, it was a reasonable deal.

Learn About Sonoma County

Twice as large as Napa in size, Sonoma County only makes about a half the amount of wine as her northeasterly neighbor. But Sonoma, with her size, is able to vouch for more diversity within her borders, including sub-AVAs that are climatically varied. The atmosphere of Sonoma is decidedly laid back and down home country style. But in wines, they are keeping up with the...
