Alexander Valley possesses the greatest diversity of soil types in any winegrowing region of California. It has a long history of dramatic geological activity which created numerous soil types and microclimates. This diversity allows us to produce wines with a great range of flavor, texture and character.
Simi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is created by keeping all of our diverse vineyard blocks separate throughout the winemaking process. This allows the winemaker to select the best vineyard lots for the final blend. The blend is created over a two year period by selecting the best barrels from the most intense lots. The complexity of this wine is created not only from our vineyards sites, but also from blending with other classic Bordeaux varietals.
This unique combination of vineyard sites and varietals results in a wine that is both powerful and elegant, with Alexander Valley's signature luscious, velvety tannins.

Perhaps the best cabernet I've ever had. Purchased in Sonoma when my wife and I were enjoying the Simi wine experience. Have bought many more bottles since.

My wife and I enjoyed a bottle of this in Antigua of all places (Curtain Bluff has a 25,000 bottle cellar). It is a spectacular Cab that opened perfectly. A great balance of dark fruits, tannens, and a hint of oak. It is my new favorite. I also just tried the 2003 SIMI Cab (non-reserve Item No. 84746 ) and for under $20 a bottle it is a really nice wine. Many of the same characteristics but a little less depth. After being left to breath for an hour it was very, very nice.

Strongly recommended!.
The aromas of this wine reflect the essence of Sonoma County with its diverse soil, climate and ripe fruit. Medium body and flavours of blackberry, dark chocolate and soft tanis. I tried this wine with a simple meal of "carne asada" strips and mixed greens.
