winemaker's notes:
Deep garnet with a ruby edge, the 2008 Sonoma County Merlot generously offers
aromas of ripe red cherry, black plum, bright cranberry, clove, cinnamon, hints of
cedar and toasty oak followed by opulent flavors of red plum, cassis, and blackberry
preserves that have been gently interlaced with clove. This medium-bodied, juicy
wine is nicely structured and finishes with soft yet firm tannins hinting at chocolate.
We suggest pairing this Merlot with roast duck, Philly cheese steak, grilled smoked
sausages, and whole barbecued salmon.
Blend: 97% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon,
1% Malbec
