winemaker's notes:

From the second great California Cabernet vintage in a row, this 2002 is an absolute stunner! Best of all, it presents amazing value for lovers of Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark red with purple tones and up front aromas of berry with a hint of sweet oak. Cherries, berries and cassis flavors touch the palate. A lingering finish of elegant tannins and black spice completes this silky wine. Varietal Composition is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 2% Syrah, 2% Petite Syrah, 1% Malbec

Alexander Valley possesses the greatest diversity of soil types in any wine-growing region of California. It has a long history of dramatic geologic activity-from an ancient mudflow that changed the course of the Russian River, to earthquake upheavals that redistributed whole sections of land. The incredible diversity of soil types and microclimates produces wines with the velvety textures and bright, luscious flavors that are characteristic of Alexander Valley. Simi Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon reflects the best of Alexander Valley's bright fruit characters and elegance that made this world-class growing region famous.

This was a wonderful wine. Very pleasant on the palette. My first sip, and I thought "Oh, my God, this is great!"

Not as good as 01 Alexander Valley Cabranet (That seems harder to obtain every day) but a very good Cabranet . One that you could enjoy drinking often . I especially like the smooth finish.

Great Cab. The fruit flavors are distinguished. You can clearly smell and taste the berry flavors. You'll know it is a good Cab from the first sip- all the way to the last. One of my favorite Cabs to date.
