100% Tempranillo from three proprietary vineyards: La Veguilla, Jararte, and Valgrande located around the towns of San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Labastida.
Aged 14 months in 2-3 years old Bordelaise barrels of American and French oak. Medium ruby color. Nice toasted coconut aroma framing red fruit. Perfectly balanced on the palate with toasty coconut, red berries, vanilla crème and spice.
#71 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2008
Plum, chocolate, tobacco and leaf flavors mingle in this round red. Shows good ripeness and concentration, but maintains a traditional style. A bit austere, but balanced. Drink now through 2012. "
"Deep red. Gamey red and dark berry aromas are complemented by smoked meat, tobacco and baking spices. Fleshy and sweet, with vibrant raspberry and cherry flavors and dusty tannins. The meaty note gains strength with air and carries through the long, chewy finish. This is complex enough to drink now."

I absolutely loved this wine. Didn't take long to open up, and I agree with the other person. It's the best Spanish red I've ever had as well.
Best Spanish Red I ever had
Very drinkable rioja, with a great balance of fruit and oak. Complex flavor, long finish, great mouthfeel. Ready now - but my 2001 Sierra Cantabria is still terrific, so can cellar for some time
