Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Differentiated personality, good varietal fruit expression, traditional yet modern.

Critical Acclaim

"This bold red delivers black plum and cassis fruit, with toast and coffee oak flavors and muscular, well-integrated tannins. Minerally and leafy notes add interest, while crisp acidity keeps this focused through the spicy finish. Drink now through 2014.—"

"The 2006 Collecion Privada was sourced from some of the estate's oldest Tempranillo vines. Malolactic fermentation was in barrel and the wine was aged for 18 months in new French and American oak. It gives up an alluring bouquet of pain grille, liquid mineral, lavender, incense, and blackberry. On the palate it is layered, medium to full-bodied, ripe, and complex. Give this lengthy effort 3-4 years of additional cellaring and drink it from 2013 to 2026."
