The 2009 Siduri Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of 8 barrels from the Big Block Section, 5 barrels from the Hermanos' section, and two barrels from the Tina's section. In both Big Block and Hermanos we utilized some whole clusters in the fermentation as the stems showed good levels of ripeness. After 14-18 days on the skins we pressed the wine directly, using gravity, to French oak. Unlike most previous vintages, we felt that the 2009 would benefit from racking, so once we decided on the barrels in the final blend we racked them together and then back to barrel several months prior to bottling.
One of the truly distinguishing characteristics of most 2009 California Pinot Noirs is their structure. This is certainly true with the 2009 Siduri Pisoni Vineyard Pinot Noir. While this wine shows the great fruit concentration of previous releases, and the complexity of the better vintages from this vineyard, it is balanced out with the backbone and structure that we can only remember from the 1999 vintage (our favorite Pisoni previously). This is a wine that, while it drinks well now, will only improve with several years in the cellar.
"Tightly wound, firm and structured, with a rich beam of lively wild berry, raspberry, spice, mineral and subtle smoky, toasty oak notes. Full-bodied and dense, yet elegant, this is an impressive youngster that's built for aging. Drink now through 2020."
"The 2009 Pinot Noir Pisoni shows off a rich fabric of dark fruit, minerals, menthol, tar, licorice and white flowers all of which are woven together beautifully. All of the best qualities of the vintage come through loud and clear."

"It is not that long ago that the Pisoni Vineyard name conjured up images of richness but almost never of refinement. It also seems that of late, there have been more than a few versions of Pisoni Pinots that have managed to deliver both, and this well-crafted take is a case in point. At once, big-bodied, unstinting in its fully ripe fruit and balanced, it firms up without letting acidity steal the show, and while it is fairly flashy right now, it is a serious wine worthy of several years cellaring."

Each Pinot Noir is created using gravity flow and minimal...Read More About Siduri

it is so difficult is why it is so loved. Pinot Noir hails from Burgundy, a region known for crafting the most collectible and sought-after wines from this varietal.
Not only does Pinot reign in Burgundy, it is also...Read More About Pinot Noir
