Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine shows the beautiful, distinctive floral notes of Wädenswil grown at Shea. It has a big, earthy, brambly character with overlays of blackberry on the palate. Wonderful spice notes of pepper and clove complete this assertive wine.

Critical Acclaim

"Polished, vibrant and spicy, with layers of clove, tea leaf and orange peel surrounding the taut cherry and raspberry flavors, lingering easily against refined tannins on a medium-weight frame."
92 Points

"Vivid red. Sexy, floral-accented aromas of black raspberry, spicecake and cola, with a hint of blood orange adding vivacity. Sappy, incisive dark berry and bitter cherry flavors show excellent depth and pick up sassafras and allspice nuances with air. Finishes spicy and long, with assertive dark berry and floral qualities."
