winemaker's notes:
The 2000 Seña has the smooth, silky texture that characterizes the vintage in the Aconcagua Valley, with all the grace and elegance of the traditional Bordeaux blends of Chile. A leafy, earthy fragrance provides an intriguing backdrop for the ripe boysenberry, cassis, cigar-box cedar and vanilla bean aromas. The wine enters the mouth with rich, soft tannins that melt on the tongue like butter. The flavors include black cherry, fig and dark roast coffee character, with accents of pipe tobacco and pine needle. The palate is beautifully balanced, and the finish just goes on and on. This Seña embodies the exceptionally long ripening season that concentrates the Cabernet Sauvignon fruit of the Aconcagua Valley. Thick, opulent Merlot and dark, rich Carmenère complete the blend. The wine will continue to improve in the bottle for at least ten years, but it is a pleasure to drink now.
