This beautiful Riesling Spaetlese displays succulent,
ripe fruit, and a nice mineral touch from the slate. Great mid palate, almost silky texture with an interplay of yellow fruit aromatics and a faint hint of vanilla. Firm acidity keeps the wine lively and ensures great complexity and longevity.
Excellent with aromatic food. In the "classic"
Western cuisine try with rich pates and very
aromatic, soft rind cheeses, especially blue
cheese. Good with savory dishes that contain
a little bit of sweetness in their preparation or
sauce. For Asian/Fusion cuisine use with a wide
range of flavourful dishes that are spicy or
have a sweet and sour combination of flavors.
Also nice with fresh fruit and nuts.
"Plush and opulent, with a smoky, minerally quality running through the concentrated flavors of apricot, peach and baked apple. Key lime pie and meringue notes mark the effusively juicy finish. Drink now through 2022. 80 cases imported."
"Mango, pink grapefruit, cashew, and hints of white raisin in the nose of Selbachs’ extremely late-harvested 2009 Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spatlese foreshadow its lushly fruited, richly nutty, silken-textured palate performance. Subtle salinity and stoniness add interest and allure to a lingering, lip-licking finish. This impeccably-balanced and finesseful Riesling is arguably more Auslese than Spatlese, but I won’t quibble. It should be a joy to follow for 20-25 years. This should be a fantastic illustration of its site and vintage even a quarter-century from now."
The Wine Advocate
"Lively aromas of fresh apple, tropical fruit and nut oils. The juicy papaya fruit and attractive oiliness are leavened by invigorating acidity. Toasted nuts and a distinct slate element on the long, very refreshing finish."

Since 1661 our family has owned vineyards in the Mosel region. Our main treasure is simply what nature presents us with: excellent vineyard-sites, and old, ungrafted vines on steep, south-facing slopes planted on heat-retaining, mineral-rich, rocky slate soil. Our philosophy of winemaking is hands-on in the vineyards and hands-off in the cellar. Most of our wines are still...Read More About Selbach Oster

The Mosel river winds its way through this wine region, passing by some of the steepest, most northerly vineyards of the world. The wines from the Mosel have a most distinctive soil based on slate. The slate-rich soils covering the region are what imparts the amazing, well-loved slate-y, mineraly flavors and aromas to the delicate Mosel wines. To keep...Read More About Mosel-Saar-Ruwer
The Riesling grape is happiest in a cooler climate, one that fosters its slow
and steady ripening. Often assumed to be the producer of only sweet wines, Riesling
is a fascinating grape of many faces. From bone dry to lusciously sweet, this
variety is delicious at any sugar level with its intense aromas and steely acidity.
