winemaker's notes:

The Mirabelle Brut Rosé is a specially crafted blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Schramsberg's select cool-climate vineyards in Carneros, Anderson Valley, and the Sonoma and Marin coastal areas of Northern California. Pinot Noir lots, including a few fermented with skin contact, provide brightness of berry fruit and body, while Chardonnay lots lend length and zest to the palate. Additional flavor depth and aromatic complexity results from the blending of base wine lots aged in barrels and tanks for one or more years. The finished Brut Rosé exhibits fresh, elegant and toasty aromas that lead into lively and delicious fruit flavors on the palate.

critical acclaim:

"Even better, the Non-Vintage Mirabelle Brut Rose (58% Chardonnay and 42% Pinot Noir) exhibits a light to medium pink color as well as abundant aromas of kir, medium body, good vibrancy and a crisp, zesty, dry finish. These cuvees are meant to be drunk upon release as there is no point in aging them."

This wine looks as beautiful as it tastes. It has a salmon/peachy hue and tastes fruity while drinking like a crisp brut.

rating (12/31/2010):
I was already familiar with the Schramberg label but this Mirabelle Brut Rose' is my new favorite. And it is priced reasonably enough that you can drink it all the time or share it with your friends! Don't be afraid that this sparkler is "pink" - it is bright and sassy instead of sweet and cloying like other rose' sparkling wines. I just hosted a "girls night out" party with appetizers and the Mirabelle Brut Rose' was wonderful with all the goodies.

My wife and I like rose champagnes and had been splurging on Salmon-Bilicart for special occasions. This is just as good for a quarter of the price. Anyone that enjoys brut rose champagne need look no further.

My husband and I, on a return train ride home/visit from Seattle, Wa., experienced the wonderful taste of Schramsberg Mirabelle Brut Rose with the some of the most delectible cheese and crackers from around the world world! After which we promptly purchased a case making gifts for family and friends! It's now a family favorite!

I loved this sparkling rose. From the moment I popped the screw, the floral nose bubbled out. The color is very very light, just a hint of pink. I found it to be beautiful to look at. It is very dry and very light in flavor, like summer night breeze in a valley. So it's easy and pleasant to drink. And yet it is very fruity. I think it had passion fruit and kiwi and green apple tastes, but I am only recalling from memory. I have ordered more and will take notes next time and update my review here. 93 well deserved points, which is the highest I have given to wines I bought here. Update: Another bottle tastes just as good as I remembered. Too bad the price went up from $23 to 30.
