Lovely cherry, raspberry, plum, and boysenberry tones dominate the aromas of this very fruit-forward Cabernet, which shows more subtle notes of vanilla and caramel as the wine evolves in the glass. On the palate, the flavors of cocoa, berry jam, warm pecans and vanilla creme seem initially most forward, but complexing flavors of amaretto and caramel/betterscotch underscore the ripe fruit notes. On the palate, it is broad and structural, with just enough grip to suggest age-worthiness.
"The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon M. Etain is dark, rich, sumptuous and highly expressive. A totally voluptuous wine, the 2009 flows across the palate with layers of dark fruit. Stylistically, the M. Etain is very close to the Scarecrow Cabernet in this vintage, although it has less aromatic complexity and depth. Hints of smoke, tobacco, incense and licorice are layered into the juicy, mid-weight finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2021."
