The color is a deep, almost impenetrable ruby red. On the nose, intense and fruity notes of blackberries, blueberries, vanilla, myrtle, leather and licorice. On the palate, big and velvety, great structure and long aromatic finish, a full-bodied wine.
Great paired with red meats, wild boar, roast suckling pig and mature Pecorino cheese.
"Grown in sand and clay soils on the western coast of Sardinia, this is a selection from pre-phylloxera vines. Those old bush vines deliver minerality into their fruit, captured here with vibrancy and richness. The wine seems to test a range of directions as it opens, its concentrated flavors hinting at cranberries and walnuts, tobacco and black pepper. After a day it's more focused, the smoky red fruit targeted at mineral tannin. More than anything, it tastes of fruit grown by the sea, at this southern edge of Sulcis."
