#57 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2009
A blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Intense ruby red in color. Red and black fruits combine with tar and menthol undertones, together with vanilla and toast undertones from oak maturation. Concentrated, great body and structure with ripe tannins and a lingering finish.
Outstanding with grilled meats, beef or venison in a rich red wine reduction sauce.
"Ripe and concentrated, with a broad swath of macerated currant, fig paste, espresso, loam and black licorice notes all carried by dense but integrated tannins. The finish lets sage and mint notes chime in. Best from 2010 through 2012. 40,000 cases made."

"From the Alto Juhuel zone south of the Maipo River, this elegant cabernet is full of herbal aromas mixed with spices that recall cardamom and black pepper. The tannins are firm but fine, maintaining tension with the fruit. For charcuterie."
Wine & Spirits
"Few $20 Cabs from anywhere are going to deliver like Medalla Real does. From first impressions, which include aromas of toast, coffee, prune and devilish berry, you know it’s a good one. The feel is generous and the balance spot on, so the plum, berry, coffee and chocolate flavors have structure and support. A complete wine with length, mint and lavish tannins."

"Inky ruby. Impressively complex bouquet of red- and blackcurrant, lead pencil, tobacco and sexy oak spices. Sweet and incisive, offering vivid raspberry and cassis flavors, with suave cola and baking spice qualities gaining strength with air. The spiciness persists through the long, sappy finish, adding cut to the sweet dark fruit. This is balanced to age."
