Winemaker's Notes

This wine has deep mulberry and ink well tones on the nose. It has plumy and baked quince on the palate. In my mind it is relatively easy to hit volume of fruit (particularly on the palate) but it is hard to hit pitch. The palate finishes with texture and vibrancy. I would think this wine will cellar very well. 10 years +.

Critical Acclaim

"Complex aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate and a touch of earth; a very powerful and equally long palate reflects the same characters right through to the finish."

Beautiful in color, this also has a perfect balance as it comes into the mouth and on the finish. I look forward to keeping this one in my cellar, as it's already a favorite and can only improve. Wonderful!

The wines of Samuel's Gorge are driven by their texture. There is a common rustic nature supporting the fruit drive in all three wines. Winemaker Justin McNamee embraces savory elements to complement the natural richness in the wines. He works hard to ensure that all the features of the wine are all in line and ultimately present wines that are great to drink and yet have structural support to ensure that they cellar well.
