After gentle destemming, the grapes were cold soaked. Pumpovers and maceration time were shortened to reduce the polyphenolic extraction, creating softer wines. The Sagelands "Four Corners" Cabernet Sauvignon was blended with four traditional Bordeaux varietals: Merlot to soften the tannins and enhance complexity; Cabernet Franc for a floral and herbal touch; Malbec for fragrance and color, and Petit Verdot for a hint of blueberry.
