Winemaker's Notes

A well balanced Chardonnay with beautiful mineral notes and excellent oak integration. Apricot and orange peel aromas are followed by flavors of almond and marzipan.

Critical Acclaim

"Delicious, with gorgeous melon, Bosc pear and Jonagold apple flavors offset by a stylish streak of grilled hazelnut. The long, racy finish lets the toast and fruit play together nicely. Drink now."
90 Points

"A gorgeous and well-balanced Chard that’s on par with some of the more popular offerings from other notable regions. Elegant and expressive with butter, toasted brioche, red apple skins and almond paste unfolding in the bouquet while flavors of baked apples and pear lead through to the marzipan-infused finish. Full and intense but not fat or overdone; drink now with stuffed lobster or thermidor."

An excellent choice for a warm night. Crisp and not too sweet. I visited this winery in Stellenbosch ZA, and bought 2 bottles (all I could take back duty free) of their Chardonnay Reserve. This wine is nearly as good. Great choice for a summer BBQ.

At the turn of the century (1900, that is), a surplus of wine in South Africa created a hierarchy of cooperatives, the biggest and best known being KWV. This organization seemed to favor quantity over quality and had most...
