Ruffino Santedame Romitorio 1999
Red Wine
from Tuscany, Italy
winemaker's notes:
Deep ruby red in color, with violet hues. Intense and complex, Romitorio di Santedame displays a voluptuous nose of brandied cherries, bilberries, and dried plums, highlighted by notes of rosemary, anise, and black pepper that evolve into a sensuous aromas of caramel and hazelnuts. This impressive bouquet is echoed on the palate, where strong but velvety tannins complement the fruit character.
Beautifully structured, the tannins, alcohol, acidity, and fruit find an ideal balance, leading to the lingering, smooth finish of bitter chocolate, vanilla, and coffee.
