winemaker's notes:
Our Shiraz has a dark ruby appearance with a deep purple edge. The aroma is vibrant and lively with an excellent varietal definition of warm spices, brambles and dark plums. The palate is dominated by well defined, ripe fruit, a soft, generous mid-palate and a long, rich finish. This is supported by fine-grained tannins and a delicious underlay of toasty American oak. The wine drinks well now and will reward 6 to 8 years of further bottle maturation.

I like it a lot, and it is a good value. gs

Rosemount Estates Shiraz is bold right from the first taste. It is less acidic and bitter than most Merlot wines I have tried. This is the darkest, most exciting wine I have found so far. It's dry yet full of flavor. Seems less refined than my favorite Bolla Valpolicella but I like the character and its' warmth.

One cannot go wrong with any of the offerings from Rosemount Estates for their great prices and quality. The Shiraz is big, spicy and a bit tannic after uncorking...but for us, 30 minutes in a wide glass softens it up just enough- definitely plummy - a great wine for the fall and winter. Try the blends for softer reds, and the Chardonnay is great too.
