winemaker's notes:
Blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Rombauer Vineyards’ 2005 Napa Valley Merlot bursts with cherry, ripe plum, and spice aromas. Tannins are deftly interwoven through a core of plum, with layers of dark berries shaded with hints of cocoa. The wine lingers on the palate with fruit and moderate tannins. It drinks well now but will further improve with age.
Winemaker's Notes
"The 2005 Napa Valley Merlot was produced from selected vineyards between Napa and Calistoga. Each vineyard chosen was selected for it’s low vigor to insure small vines and modest canopy in order to provide the optimal sunlight for the fruit. By utilizing this approach, we are able to
produce a fruit with enhanced flavor and color, yet less herbaceous. This style of boutique winemaking in small lots produces a wine which is flavorful and soft."
