Alcohol By Volume: 14.4%

Alcohol By Volume Guide

  • 10%
  • 16+%
Most wine ranges from 10-16% alcohol by volume. Some varietals tend to have higher (for example Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon) or lower alcohol levels (Pinot Noir and many white varietals), but there is always some variation from producer to producer. Some wine falls outside of this range, for instance Port weighs in closer to 20%, while Muscat and Riesling are usually a bit below 10%.

Winemaker's Notes

Aromas of cherry, dusty leather and mushroom open on the nose of our 2007 La Encantada Vineyard Pinot Noir. Over time, these are joined by an herbed lift of sage or thyme and a growing minerality. Dense, bright fruit on the palate builds as the wine opens up and is drawn out along a lengthening finish surrounded by leathery texture, herbs, and earth.

Critical Acclaim

"The older the vines in this vineyard get the better the wines. Roessler’s ’07 is spectacular, showing massive flavors of black cherries, cola, sandalwood and Asian spices. But even more impressive is the balanced structure. Beautiful now, and should develop over the next 4–5 years. "
94 Points

"Medium-deep ruby color; complex plum aromas with some meaty, earthy notes; rich, ripe, complex flavors of plum and black cherry; earthy with some tannin and toasty oak; good structure and balance; long finish. Deep, earthy and just a bit closed in right now, needs time in the bottle and in the glass to develop fully."
