Our 2008 Estate Chardonnay is a blend from our Estate Chardonnay vineyards. The blend consists of Sixty percent Mid 40, twenty-four percent River Block, and sixteen percent South River Vineyard. It is a fine example of the unique characteristics from our property and the Russian River Valley. Aromas of ripe apple, tropical fruit, vanilla and a touch of spice combine with the rich apple flavors and crisp acidity.
"Good Chardonnay, rich and ripe and steely. That metallic thing shows up both in the crisp acidity and in the stony, pebbly tang that adds a piquant freshness to the pineapple, lime tart, tangerine and smoky custard-cream flavors."
"Vivid yellow-gold. Musky pear skin and quince aromas are complemented by iodine and smoky minerals. Powerful orchard fruit flavors are braced by zesty minerality and pick up a bitter lime pith quality with air. Dense and chewy chardonnay with strong finishing grip and lingering minerality. Rochioli told me that this bottling "has a lot of Hanzell clone in it and more Wente is going into the blend every vintage.""
