Rocca delle Macie Fizzano Chianti Classico Riserva 2001
Sangiovese
from Tuscany, Italy
winemaker's notes:
Color: Ruby red tending towards garnet.
Bouquet: Intense but delicate, moderately spicy with great finesse.
Taste: Full bodied with rich berry fruit flavors and a backbone of tannin.
This bottle should be opened in advance and allowed to breathe, or preferably, decanted. It is a wine to be classified as "da meditazione", and particularly compliments red meat, roast and game dishes.

This Chianti Classico is by far the best wine that I have tasted. I love red wines. I look for full-bodied, mellow reds with a deliberate lack of that bitter aftertaste sometimes present in reds. This wine has a fabulous bouquet, very smooth on the pallate, and finishes oh soooo nice. This is a perfect wine for a snowy, quiet night by the fire with a loved one. Not too spicy. Ruby rich red color nearly looks like blood. A slight hint of oak flavor tops it off. You need this wine. For the price, it can't be beat. - David Cunningham/Medford, OR
