90% Sangiovese (aka "Morellino"), 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot. In local dialect, Sangiovese has long been known as "Morellino" a reference to "Morello," a breed of horse formerly used to work on farms in this coastal area of Tuscany. Farmers compared the rich dark color of the Sangiovese grape to the glossy, dark coat of the Morello horses.
