Robert Mondavi Solaire Chardonnay grapes were selected at the peak of ripeness from top vineyards within Santa Lucia Highlands. A percentage of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation, and 100% of the juice was barrel fermented for a full, complex mouthfeel. The
wine aged in a mixture of new and used French oak barrels from various esteemed coopers.
Solaire Chardonnay displays aromas and flavors of citrus, pear, mango, and freshly cut pineapple, supported by spicy and smoky nuances from 100% French oak.
I just opened this wine and have found it very nice. In the California Chard style but with sufficient acidity and crispness to balance out the toast and butter. Used it to deglaze a nice shrimp scampi and served it with the meal. I would definitely buy again!
