Robert Mondavi Private Selection Pinot Noir 2003
Pinot Noir
from North Coast, California
winemaker's notes:
This Pinot Noir has an approachable, fruit-forward style. We captured the vibrant red fruit, floral and spice character from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the cool, foggy foothills of Monterey County. The wine's silky layers of cherry, raspberry and red plum intertwine with fragrant allspice and floral accents. Aging in small, French oak barrels adds spicy, toasty nuances that continue through the lingering finish. This is a lighter style red wine, with supple balance and soft tannins.
Food Pairing
Accompany this wine with light meats, such as grilled fish, pork or chicken, and heartier beef or lamb.

Very nice "new world" Pinot with upfront fruitiness, nice finish and very soft tannins. This type of Pinot I like to drink with no food.

This wine is a great summertime red. Not heavy, but lingers long enough to know you've had some. Crisp enough to eat with meat, although I loved it with salmon.
