A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Syrah.

Dark and densely concentrated, expressive aromas of blackberry, currants and subtle notes of thyme and cinnamon lead to flavors of blackberry, black plum and a bit of black olive. Knit together with big, mouth-coating tannins, this is an engagingly well-structured, bold-statement wine.

critical acclaim:

"Slightly superior to the 2005, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa possesses a dark ruby/purple color as well as a creme de cassis, spice box, and floral-scented bouquet, and a medium to full-bodied finish. A strong effort, it should drink nicely for 12-15 years."

good, not great. this wine is dry, oaky, with decent fruit on the palate. compared to louis martini napa cab, it was a bit underwhelming. wine opened up a bit the second day, evidenced by more fruit on the palate, but perhaps a little more time in the cellar would improve the wine.

Make no mistake...this is a good rock solid cabernet. It is technically structured with everything integrated and nothing off putting but nothing special either. This is the second 90 wine I've had this evening that was rated highly but was created to NOT be off putting rather than to take a chance and be something more. A 90+ wine should be reserved for wines with someting special...this isn't it...a solid effort.
