Our 1999 Marjorie's Sunrise captures the promise and beautiful expression of the younger Cabernet Sauvignon vines in our highly acclaimed Marjorie's Vineyard. "These post-phylloxera vines, planted in 1991, reveal pretty aromas and flavors with an elegant, feminine structure," commented Tim Mondavi. "The floral and red fruit character, reminiscent of red cherries and cassis, have complex nuances of minerals, earth and spices. The tannins of the "Sunrise" wine are star-dust fine and delicate." In contrast, the old vines (Twilight) in Marjorie's vineyard -- that form the backbone of our To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon -- express their character in complex layers of ripe, black fruit, such as blackberry and plum, with muscular tannins. Each wine has its own beauty."
