"Robert Craig's 2008 Affinity, which is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, has a dark plum/ruby color, a very evolved and forward nose of spice box, cedar, black plums, and sweet cherries. It is medium-bodied, elegant, and ideal for drinking over the next 7-8 years.
I looked at the three blends from the Robert Craig Winery in 2009, the Affinity, Mt. Veeder, and Howell Mountain, and this looks to be a seductive vintage of forward fruit. They do not have the weight, exuberance, and flashiness of the 2007s, but these mid-weight wines exhibit loads of charm, silkiness, and no doubt, plenty of consumer appeal.
