You will find that the 1998 vintage of Renwood Grandpére Zinfandel is a classic example of what these renowned old vineyards can provide – a rich, full-bodied wine with excellent length and depth of flavors including spicy, bright berry fruit with chocolate and white pepper. It is an elegant wine with a well balanced mouth-feel and firm, yet supple, tannin structure.

A textbook Zin, the Renwood Grandpere 1998 is a pure delight. It is hard to imagine a Zin being any better. I consider it the Platonic Ideal of Zinfandel.
This baby's got big, powerful fruit flavors that are balanced by a very silky finish that lingers long on the palate. Tannins are a bit firm, which a year in the cellar ought to smooth out in a year or so. This wine really comes to life in the glass. I'd buy more but it is out of stock and very hard to come by.
