Redcliffe Sauvignon Blanc 2004
Sauvignon Blanc
from Marlborough, New Zealand
winemaker's notes:
"If you've ever made broth from lobster shells and shrimp heads, you'll recognize the scent melding into this sauvignon: carapace on a gooseberry bush. If you can get past the bad pun, the fruit itself has complexity and amplitude, ripened to flavors of green pear and guava. Serve it witha salad of lobster and prawns with avacado."

Goes great with spicy food as well as seafood. Like it better than the Kanu Chenin Blanc. Very light and crisp. Cannot put my finger on the fruit taste though.

Money's tight right at the moment and the under $20's are my enforced choice, so I was very pleased to find this reasonable and nice Sauvignon Blanc. With a simple pasta dish of olive oil, garlic, pine nuts, oregano, and parmegian, it was terrific. Definitely a good wine to keep on hand for summer drinking.
