The 2008 Big River is dense reddish blue in color. Hints of fennel, oak-spiced roasted nuts and dark berries on the nose. Plummy, ripe mouth-filling flavors with a long, soft, fruit and oak-driven finish help make this wine a deeply concentrated, sappy, satisfying Zinfandel.
"The Big River bottling exhibits a wealth of nervy, young, spiced-berry fruit and is again an exceptionally well-balanced wine. If not lacking for ripeness, it is fresh and juicy and long on sweet berries. It is at once moderately full-bodied and shows a certain spry spring in its step, and while guaranteed to grow for a good many years, it is a wholly engaging and easy to taste Zinfandel even now."
