winemaker's notes:
Adriano Red 2004 is a blend of three traditional Portuguese red wine grapes: Touriga Francesa,
Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Nacional. This varietal blend provides the wine with the structure, smooth
tannins, finesse and floral notes on the nose. These grape varietals are fermented in steel vats
under controlled temperatures and undergo malolactic fermentation. About 20% of the production
is transferred to French oak barrels and the rest remains in steel vats. After 18 months, the wine
is bottled.
The color of this wine is an intense dark purple with a red tone. On the nose, the wine is clean and
intense, with aromas of cherries and red fruits, including strawberries, currants and raspberries,
dominating. Adriano Red 2004 also has a creamy vanilla note and a balsamic finish, with aromas
of rosemary and rose rock. It has balanced acidity and is smooth on the palate with lively tannins
and nuances of ripe fruit and some floral and balsamic notes. A discreet woody presence is also
evident. The finish is fresh, savory and long.
The ageing potential is eight to ten years. This wine is
a perfect accompaniment to red meat, game, BBQ, hamburgers, pizza, pasta and vegetables.
