Winemaker's Notes

Aging the 2010 on its fine lees has coated the tannins and smoothly integrated the wood, and we left this vintage 26 months in completely new barrels. Our seventh vintage from this small, outstanding vineyard on the lower slopes of the eastern Oakville hills. "Pedregal" means a rocky place in Spanish, and that is certainly a distinguishing feature of the site.

Critical Acclaim

"The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Pedregal Vineyard is once again majestic. All the elements are simply in the right place. A dazzling wine, the 2010 captivates all the sense with its extraordinary nuance and polish. Dark red berries, crushed flowers, licorice and a hint of French oak are some of the notes that take shape in the glass, but like so many wines in this vintage, the Pedregal is mostly about textural elegance and brilliance, two qualities that come through in spades. This is a drop-dead gorgeous wine from David Ramey. Readers will need to be patient, but those who can wait will be treated to an extraordinary wine."
97 Points

"Inky purple. Sexy, oak-spiced aromas of black and blue fruit liqueur, pipe tobacco and sandalwood, with a suave floral nuance gaining power with air. Broad and sweet but impressively balanced, presenting vibrant cassis and bitter cherry flavors and hints of rose pastille and cola. Finishes with outstanding clarity and persistence, leaving floral and spicecake notes behind."
95 Points

"Bold and expressive, featuring loads of deep flavors, with a fine measure of restraint and balance. The core flavors are keyed into dried dark and red berry, cedary oak, crushed rock and loamy earth, ending on the dry side."

Now situated in downtown Healdsburg, Ramey Wine Cellars draws on exceptional vineyards in both Napa and Sonoma to fashion classically-styled Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay using traditional old world techniques.

Learn About Napa Valley

It's hard not to think of Napa Valley when thinking of California wines. The region is, after all, the one that brought world recognition to California wine making. The area was settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980's, when vineyard...

Learn About Cabernet Sauvignon

(cab-uhr-NAY sow-veeh-yawn) King of Red Many refer to Cabernet Sauvignon as the king of red grapes. Perhaps that title is due to its ability to grow worldwide in a number of climates, or to the fact that it produces wine with such character yet such diversity. Either way, this grape is responsible, as a whole or a partner, for some of the greatest wines in the world. In Bordeaux,...
